Honorable mention to the rookie Jack Doohan who is the 22 year old Australian driver that competed for Alpine but got replaced mid season by Franco Calapinto.

Championship update
Moving on to the highlights of the season, the first race was the Australian Grand Prix which was won by the Mclaren driver Lando Norris making him the first winner of the year. As of right now he is holding the second place for the driver’s championship with 314 points, his teammate Oscar is currently leading with 336 points, and our last year’s champion Max Verstappen in 3rd with 273 points. Mclaren has won the construction championship with 650 points, we are most likely seeing a double Mclaren championship as both Mclaren drivers are fighting for the drivers championship. Which has recently got heated during the singaporean grand prix with their on-track contact in Singapore led to Piastri’s frustration and internal “repercussions” for Norris, creating a challenging situation for McLaren’s team management. With that Piastri’s lead narrows as the gap between him and Norris is only 22 points, Max Verstappen gap also closes as he is clawing back for points with only a 63 point gap from the lead.

Other notable moments from this season off track, we recently got the devastating news of the loss of Roscoe Lewis Hamilton’s bulldog. Max has also just had a little baby girl this May named lily, Daniel Ricciardo, a former F1 driver for the 2024 season has confirmed retirement from motor racing this September. F1 has also become a very popular sport so much so that they have come out with an F1 movie this June with Lewis Hamilton as a producer and other F1 drivers and principles as extras.
Looking ahead for 2026
With all this happening this season what changes can you expect for next season?
We are getting a new team Cadillac with the drivers Sergio Perez and Valtteri Bottas they are both returning to F1 after not being part of the 2025 season, the team principal is Graeme Lowdon. The power unit of the cars will have a 50/50 split between a smaller combustion engine and a more powerful electric motor, with the electric power increasing significantly to 350kw. Cars will also feature active front and rear wings that drivers can adjust to reduce drag on straights or increase downforce in corners. Some other rules that will change as of 2026 are the minimum weight of the drivers will be increased and the fastest lap point that was reintroduced in 2019 will be abolished.
As the 2025 season is slowly coming to an end we will soon see what the 2026 season will bring.
