Ever since we were little, we (Ellie and Sophie) played Brookhaven. During the Covid19 lockdown, it was our escape from the harsh reality we were living. Through Brookhaven, we could go out to eat, go to the arcade, go shopping, drive, buy a nice house, and so much more. Our favorite time to play the game was during the Christmas season. There were always new things to do in the game, like find hidden gifts and drive around in Santa’s sleigh.
We loved to play this game because it was fun to meet new people, especially during Covid. Ellie loved to find secret hideouts; the best way to describe it is that it was kind of like a glitch in the game, and these hideout glitches didn’t go viral on tik tok and youtube until 2021. Sophie’s favorite part of the game was that she could always change her character to be whatever she wanted it to be.
We both agree that the game is endless fun and we think this has to do with getting new updates everyday! The game is changing 24/7 and is always improving. During Covid, it was fun to not have any limits in the game like we did in our everyday life due to the virus keeping us inside. We didn’t have to wear masks or stay 6 feet apart; we could just let loose and have fun.
Sometimes, to this day, we will jump on the game and have some fun–like the good old days. Usually we do this every 2-3 months, once or twice. It’s really interesting to see a bunch of kids still playing the game we once loved so much. This is one of the most popular games in Roblox to this day. Ellie thinks it comes from the creativity in the game. There are usually 400,000 – 500,000 people per day jumping on the game and having fun. They have about 120 million players joining the game per month. Some people say it’s so popular because almost everything is free. Nice houses? FREE! Nice cars? FREE! Everything is almost free so everyone is on the same level. Also, people call it the “Social Hangout”. We think this name is a really good example of the game and what it can bring to a kid’s life.
