This year, Lamphere High school has seen some pretty important staffing switches
When entering the 25-26 school year, students and staff welcomed 5 new teachers into the building, and we think they’re all off to an amazing start. Ultimately, we got a new teacher in every department besides the history department. We welcomed two new teachers in the science department, Mr. Aldridge, who is teaching Physical Science and Chemistry, Mrs. Shobert, who teaches Biology! In the math department, we welcomed one new teacher, Ms. Ruart, who is teaching algebra 2 and geometry
Me and Sophie went around to each of these classrooms and asks 2-3 students each two simple questions: 1-How do you think your new teachers first 2-3 weeks have been going’, and 2- “What is your favorite think about your teacher or their classroom?”. We didn’t want to come off too strong and wanted to leave the questions very open ended and let them give us an easy raw opinion.
Starting with Ms. Roark, we interviewed Xavier Ward and Lily Dodson. These two freshmen had nothing but good things to say about our amazing teacher! “She’s not like boring, she can create really fun lessons for us”, Xavier answered when we asked what his favorite thing about his teacher was. Lily, when askes how her teachers initial weeks are going, answered “She’s doing pretty good! She’s like really ncie to all of the kids and all that.” Teaching majorly freshmen, this teacher already seems off to an amazing start and seems to be connecting to the kids very well.

Secondly, Ms. Ruart!! She teaches juniors and freshmen classes(Algebra 2 and Geometry). I interviewed juniors Merrell McCann and Ryan Zou, and they were both very ambitious to voulenteer and answer some questions about their teacher. When asked how his teachers first weeks have been going, Ryan answered “Teacher? Yes they’re very cool, yes”. Ryan was very happy while talking about Ms. Ruart and seemed to really like her. Along with Merrell, she answered “Her classroom is really cute, she gives us fidgets, and…I don’t know she’s just really easy going.”, when asked what she likes about her and her classroom. Ms. Ruart also is the assistant coach on our Boys Varsity Soccer team under our renound english teacher Ms. Rachel Vickers; They’re off to a great start this season, and we cannot wait to see how much Ms. Ruart comes along this school year.
Third, we have Mr. Aldridge, teaching almost every grade depending on who takes his chemistry class. We interviewed his students during 3rd hour which happens to be his freshmen Physical Chemistry class. We asked Ellie Leggett about Mr. Aldridge and they gave us a great answer!! They said, “I think they’ve been going okay, I haven’t heard him complain too much about his classes, and our class is pretty okay so I think hes doing alright.” We got another response from Olivia Cousino, who said “I like how he’s really flexible with like due dates and stuff.” These two quotes from Olivia and Ellie give a nice inside look to his classroom dynamic!!
Fouth, we went to Mrs. Schobert, who is teaching only Biology this year, so strictly sophomores. We interviewed two students, Kaitlyn Peasgood and Jamal Kirkland. When asked what their favorite thing about the teacher or her classroom was, Kaitlyn said “I like how we have free seating, and there is seats everywhere… she doesn’t judge, whatever you want- she’s very flexible.” This is something about teachers that most teachers truly appreciate. Another thing is what Jamal Kirkland said, he told us “Honestly I think they’ve been going super good, she’s a fun energetic type of teacher, she keeps the classroom engaged with the activities she’s teaching. ” (in response to how he thinks these first two weeks have). What it sounds like to us is that she is really making her classroom a wonderful palace for her students.
Lastly, we have Mr. Sharrard!
Mr. Shirard is teaching mainly marketing and business classes, so primarily juniors and seniors. Two students volunteered for the interview, Nathan Maciag and Mason Maczuga, both seniors. When we asked Mason how he thinks the first two weeks are going, he told us “It’s been going pretty good, he just got married and eveything so I think he’s having a good time and eveything”. And when nathan was asked Nathan what he liked about Mr. Shirard or his classroom the most, he replied with “I like that he takes the class slow, you know we work and move at our own pace”. After Nathan told us this, Mr. Shirard walked out of the classroom and Nathan humorously said “And here he is, this is Mr. Aura.” as you can see up above. This teacher seems to be taking a more laid back route to his upperclassmen courses, and i’m sure these seniors and juniors appreciate this approach!
Get used to these faces, as I’m sure they’ll be sticking around for a while! Good luck to them as they take on their first year at LHS.
