The 12th hour is here
Pursuing your dreams can make you work as hard as humanly possible. An amazing example of this is Cameron Cross, a small forward for the Lamphere Rams. A 6’2 small forward who is an all-around scorer but more importantly one of the hardest workers in the state, he is guided by both his dreams and his faith.
Cam grew up with basketball and, because of that, he has become an excellent player. In his last year at Lamphere, Cross averaged 7 ppg, 4 rebounds, and 2.1 steals. He did really well in his new role and had some big moments from the past season. Cam is someone who doesn’t complain and will put his head down and just play basketball. Cross also played AAU, and this was where he truly showed how good a player he is. In AAU, Cross averaged 16 ppg, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists per game. When asked about AAU, it seemed he was able to play more with the ball in his hands, which completely elevated his game.
Thankfully, this weekend I had the chance to question Cameron and talk with him about his dreams and future endeavors in basketball. He was very insightful, and I completely enjoyed speaking with him.

“What has pushed you to work the hardest in your career?” Cross answered, “Fear of being average.” This shows his dedication to basketball and getting better at his craft. Cross is such a hard working guy, and he continues to grind and get better at his craft.
“What has been your favorite basketball memory?” Cross told me, “Beating Hazel Park on my birthday.” Cam really does love to win, and it truly does show in the way he carries himself.
“What player did you model your game after?” Cross told me, “Duke Point guard Jared McCain.” To me, this is really easy to tell from the fact that Cross plays basketball really similarly to McCain.

“How long have you been playing basketball?” Cross answered, “I have been playing for around 10 years or so.” This has shown how much better he has gotten and how hard he has worked since he started playing basketball.
“How does it feel getting coached by different coaches with different play styles?” “I played more off-ball in high school, but in AAU, I am more ball-dominant, and that has led to me being a way more well-rounded player.” This is shown through his stats and play, but it shows Cross’s character to not complain when having fewer opportunities than he may be used to.
“What are your goals in basketball overall?” Cross told me, “Be a pro one day, as I love sports so much and I can’t picture a life without them.” This shows his determination and dedication to the sport of basketball and to becoming the best player he can possibly be.
“What are your plans after high school?” Cam showed his passion with this: “Play basketball at the next level.” Cam truly has so much potential and dedication to getting himself the best at basketball.
“Who has pushed you the hardest?” “My mom.” Cross cares a lot for his family and the people who have supported him throughout his journey, and it shows how hard he has worked for his journey.

“How has faith pushed you to be better?” “I have a belief that I can do whatever I want, and my belief makes me feel that way.” Cams’ belief is a big part of who he is and how hard he pushes himself, and I think this shows through how he carries himself.
Cameron Cross has been someone who, every single year, gets better and works even harder. He has been pushed by the important people in his life, as well as his faith, to keep on working hard and growing. The sky is the limit for Cross, and I think that he can go as far as he pushes himself, and I’m excited to see his growth. The 12th hour is here.
