The winter sports season has come to an end. The longest high school sports season, lasting from November to March, with 7 teams all around. In this piece, I am ranking the 5 best teams from Lamphere this winter.
#5 Boys Swim & Dive 5-3-1 (3-1-1)
Coming off of a league championship in 2025 and losing 4 key swimmers, the boys had a big challenge ahead of them. Finishing 3rd in league play and 5th in the MAC Blue Championship meet. Landyn Sanborn qualified for the Oakland County Championship in the 100 Butterfly, capping off a great career at Lamphere with 2 MVPs. On the dive side, Michael Aramouni qualified for diving states after finishing 3rd in MAC!
#4 Boys Bowling 7-1 MAC Champs
In their second year, the boys bowling team won their second league title. A three way tie with Clintondale and South Lake, the Rams were atop the MAC Gold once again. After losing a couple of key bowlers, the team’s returners stepped up and delivered once again.
#3 Girls Cheer MAC Champs, Regional Qualifiers
This cheer season had a lot of ups and downs. The girls won MAC and qualified for regionals for the second straight season! With a strong senior class, the underclassmen will have to step up and work to replace what’s leaving. The Lamphere cheer program is built tough and has proven its resilience after a great 2026 season!
#2 Wrestling 10-3 (3-2) District Champs
One of the best programs LHS has to offer is its wrestling team. They proved why they get that said about them after winning a district title for the first time since 2020. Keegan Miller and Allie Matheney qualified for states with Keegan placing 8th! The team was middle of the pack in a tough MAC White division, the highest MAC league for Lamphere Athletics.
#1 Boys Basketball 19-4 (9-1) MAC Champs, District runner-up
Last but not least, the boys basketball team. Debatably, the greatest team in school history, with a school record in wins, MAC Bronze title, and the furthest postseason run in 20 years. Back-to-back league titles (another first time) for the boys who are headlined by: Jack Robinson, Evan Landstrom, and Gavin Abbott.
