The 2026 Super Bowl just happened a couple of weeks ago, and one of the main things people are talking about isn’t the Seattle Seahawks’ win, it’s the halftime show. This year, Bad Bunny was the performer chosen for the halftime show, following some controversial Grammy wins that got people stirred up about this.
Over the years, there have been some amazing Super Bowl performances like Katy Perry, Rihanna, Prince, and Lady Gaga, and more. There have also been some debatably bad ones like the Black Eyed Peas, Maroon 5, and the Blues Brothers, and many more. This year, however, there has been a weird mix of responses. In particular, in the last few years, artists who have performed have gone more into the meaning of their performances. In the Bad Bunny show, this was showcased from beginning to end. The thing that clicked for most people was the Grammy being passed down from him to a younger version of himself. In this article, we are going to go in-depth on all the other significant things that happened during the halftime show.

In the beginning of the performance, we saw fields with people working in the fields. This was to pay homage to the agriculture workers who worked in the sugarcanes in Puerto Rico. During the wedding in the performance, there were a lot of traditional musical instruments, which I thought was a subtle but cool touch to the performance. There was also a real taco business that was in the halftime show, and he brought it into his performance to represent all of the small businesses that make up Puerto Rican neighborhoods.

There was also a block party, and, fun fact, the wedding was a real wedding; the couple really wanted Bad Bunny to perform at their wedding about a year before he performed at the Super Bowl, and he invited the couple to come to his Super Bowl performance instead. The block party was meant to transform the stadium into a Puerto Rican neighborhood, and if you paused during this part of the show, you could catch different things happening, from a pop-up nail salon to a kid sleeping in the background. Several celebrities were there, like Cardi, Lady Gaga, and Ricky Martin.
In the past few years artists have been going more into the deeper meaning with their superbowl performance, and every artist does their Super Bowl performance the way that they want to do it. Some artists do have very big elements, and others don’t–they keep it very simple. The point of the Super Bowl is to show the people more about the artist and who they are, and they have to already be a fan favorite to perform. This is a very coveted opportunity that artists can get in their career.
