With the entertainment industry gearing up for the 2026 Academy Awards in March, it is only right that we go through some of the major nominations of the year and give credit to the actors and the actresses that make up such major films of our years. Nominated for his first Oscar this year, Michael B Jordan is nominated for Best Actor for the movie Sinners. In the film, Jordan stars as two twin brothers, Smoke and Stack, twins who are just coming back from Chicago, IL, after “working” through Al Capone and different Italian mobs, come back to their hometown(s) in hopes of starting a juke joint and having their grand opening on the same night.

- This is an all-time Oscar high of 16 total nominations through 1 movie. The previous joint record holders were “La La Land”, “Titanic”, and “All About Eve”, all holding the spot with 14 nominations until Sinners rolled along. This is a huge cultural impact for the black community, with this movie being a first-time nomination for many of the black actors and directors involved.
Nominated for Best Supporting Actor, Delroy Lindo is nominated for his first Oscar at age 73 after a very successful acting career prior to the nomination. Nominated for Best Actor, Michael B. Jordan is also nominated for his Oscar, after starring in several Ryan Coogler movies, along with his Marvel Appearances for Black Panther, and even his incredible “Creed” trilogy. Jacob Elordi, a fan favorite among many Gen Z viewers, was nominated for his first Oscar for Best Supporting Actor in the movie “Frankenstein”, a movie that includes other famous actor Oscar Isaac. First-time nominee Elle Fanning is also being recognized this year for her appearance in “Sentimental Value”.
As expected, some actors are returning to the Oscars after previous appearances for different roles and movies. Timothée Chalamet is receiving his 4th nomination, this one being for Best Actor in “Marty Supreme”. Chalamet has previously been nominated for Best Actor in “Call Me By Your Name”, starring as Elio, and “A Complete Unknown”, starring as Bob Dylan. Chalamet has become the youngest actor to earn 3 Best Actor nominations so early in their career. The last actor to achieve this was Marlon Brando, known for movies such as “The Godfather”, “A Streetcar Named Desire”, “Guys and Dolls”, etc.
