The rising country star, Megan Moroney, has been taking the country world by storm. She most recently announced her new Cloud 9 Tour, which left many fans overly excited and eager to get their hands on tickets. Many LHS students on the day of the ticket launch were in queue lines all day trying to get their hands on tickets to see her live, here in Detroit on August 18th. With her last single being “Beautiful Things” were expecting a new album and the new tour.
I went to various LHS students who are going to the tour, some just big fans, and some still in the pursuit of tickets and asked them a series of questions. I interviewed students Catherine West, Merrell McCann, Emma Riggs, Ava Wenner, Josh Cox, and Leticia Moreno. They were all more than happy to answer my questions for this story and were very passionate about Ms. Megan Moroney!!
My first interviewer was senior, Josh Cox. Josh was in queue lines for hours on the day of ticket sales trying to get tickets for the upcoming tour. I asked Josh what his top 3 Megan Moroney songs, to which he answered: “Bless Your Heart”, track #16 off of Am I Okay?(I’ll Be Fine), “Tennessee Orange”, track #3 off of Lucky, “Wonder”- a single released in 2021, “Georgia Girl”, track #10 off of Lucky, and “Break It Right Back”, track #15 off of Am I Okay?(I’ll Be Fine). Josh and his girlfriend are planning to head to the tour coming up in 2026 and I am hoping that they get the chance to experience such an amazing performance!
Second, Junior, Ava Wenner. Ava is Josh’s(recently listed) girlfriend, they are in the process of getting their seats at LCA in August. I asked ava what her top 3 songs were, and by no surprise, her answers were “Bless Your Heart”, track #16 off of Am I Okay?(I’ll Be Fine), “Tennessee Orange”, track #3 off of Lucky, and “Hair Salon”, track #2 off of her EP, Pistol Made of Roses. Personally, I find it very very cute that Josh and Ava had the same first 2 songs, and very funny at the same time! Ava has great taste and I am glad she was so eager to be interviewed about Megan Moroney.
Third, senior, Leticia Moreno, who plans on going to both of the shows in Michigan, and even looking to get tickets to see Megan in Ohio, was my third interview on Megan Moroney. I asked Leticia what she was most exciting for while at the concert and she said “I am most excited for the atmosphere of the crowd, and her fun interactions with the fans”, a mutual feeling that I think all of her fans could relate to. I also asked Leticia which song she was most excited about to hear on tour, and after humming the song in her head to think of the lyric, she came up with the answer, “6 Months Later”, her recent single released in 2025. When I asked Leticia what her favorite song was, she answered with “Noah”, track #7 off of Am I Okay?, or “Hair Salon”, track #2 off of her EP, Pistol Made of Roses. Clearly, Leticia is a big fan and was really quick to get her hands on those tickets, maybe even Ohio tickets…?
Next, junior Catherine West was my next interview. Catherine and her best friend are going to be heading to the tour in August together and the two of them couldn’t be more excited! I asked Catherine what about the tour she is most excited to experience, and she responded with, “Just to honestly spend time with Merrell and sing our hearts out.” This was a very heartfelt and genuine answer that reflects the purity of Catherine and Merrell’s friendship. I also asked Catherine which song she was most excited to hear live, to which she replied, “6 Months Later”, one of her recent singles released in 2025. And to end off her interview, I asked which song was her favorite by Megan Moroney, and she responded with “Probably her most recent song ‘Beautiful Things’”.
Fifth, Merrell McCann, a junior, was my next interview. Merrell along with Catherine are going to LCA in August to see Megan Moroney. I asked Merrell the same set of questions, starting with what she is most excited for about the Cloud 9 concert, and she responded with “All of the fans being loud and the cute outfits”, very different from Catherine’s response, but still a very relatable response. I asked her which song she was most excited to hear live aswell, and she told me “Indifferent”, “Indifferent”, and when I asked what her favorite song was by Megan, she told me “Georgia Girl”, track #10 off of Lucky. Merrell definitely is a big fan, we are all excited to see her cute outfit and watch her concert videos!!
Last but not least, Emma Riggs, junior, was my last and final interview. Emma plans to go to the tour in August with her mom and couldn’t be more excited to see one of her favorite performers live! My first question to Emma was, what is she most excited to experience while at the tour, to which she replied with: “To be able to sing the songs while being next to my mom and get to see her live again.” Emma and her mom are such besties and wouldn’t trade it for the world. Question #2 was, which song are you most excited to hear live, and she told me, “Probably ‘6 Months Later’, but honestly, I love them all and am so excited for everything because I love how fun her music is, it always makes me so happy when I listen to it.” This is an answer that any fan should be able to give in response to this question; We of course, all have the one song that stands out the most, but all of the music should be enjoyable for you. And my last question was what her favorite Megan Moroney song was, and she replied with, “I would probably say ‘Wonder’ Because it is very heartfelt and relatable, and I love listening to it every time it comes on. It is always my first choice.”
Needless to say, Megan Moroney has some huge fans in Lamphere who she should expect to hear screaming back her songs and dressing up in the cutest outfits ever.
Who is next?
