This holiday season, the Lamphere Med-club is working hard to spread kindness and compassion throughout the community. Members of the Med-club have been working on creating a heartfelt project, creating and delivering holiday cards to those in hospitals. The goal is to bring joy, warmth, and hope to those who might not be able to spend the holidays with their loved ones. To learn more about this inspirational project, I interviewed Lola Godboldo, the Med-Club president to go into detail about the goals and experiences behind this heartwarming project.
What is the plan with med club
“Our med club is a community at Lamphere ach people about health and we give resources to people who are interested or want to become something in the medical field, we bring in guest speakers and planning on a field trip soon we also do a lot of fundraisers as we are a non profit to people in our community and just people in general that have health issues and it’s just our way of spreading kindness and the things we are passionate about
How did you come up with it and what’s the end goal
“We are doing cards just in general, and it doesn’t specifically have to be holiday cards but we are mailing them in to children and adults in hospitals and its just the way we want to spread happiness as the holiday season comes up so people want something that’s more heartfelt than a gift, something more written, and put end goal is to have them done before break as well as send them out before break as well since its about 2 weeks and we hope to hear back from them a couple weeks after break!”
What’s happening to make this happen and when do you plan on sending them out.
“So were having 2 meetings a week, next week were doing meetings on tuesday and thursday and we are bringing in a bunch of coloring supplies and cardstock and we have already made around 20 cards so far so that’s pretty good and that’s only from about 3 people so that’s really good and we are just making cards about anything, but our goal is to make it more generalized because no one knows exactly who their writing to so its just for anyone honestly, just kind little messages in the card!”
As the holiday season gets closer and closer, projects like this that value empathy and remind us that powerful small acts of kindness can be really meaningful and full of compassion and can really make a difference. With the dedication from the Med-club, countless patients will receive a message of hope and generosity when they need it most. As people come together for a common cause, a powerful message can be sent to others, making a difference in people’s lives and this truly shows what Lamphere strives for in their school. An act of kindness can go a long way!
