Mr. Stedman, one of the many science teachers here at Lamphere, is more than just a science teacher. He is a son, a husband, and even a dad. He is married to his high school sweetheart, who is a kindergarten teacher, and they have four kids together: A son who is a sophomore in college at Central Michigan University, an 8th grader, a 6th grader, and a 5th grader who are all into sports. In his “free time”, he coaches his kids’ basketball teams and running teams; if he isn’t heading to practice or a game with them, he is driving them wherever they need to go. He does wish that he had more free time so he could go on more dates with his lovely wife.

Mr. Stedman went to Cousino High School and then attended the University of Detroit Mercy to earn his bachelor’s degree and then went to Bowling Green University to earn his master’s degree. Although Mr. Stedman is now a science teacher, he originally got a degree to become a mechanical engineer. He told us that going to college in Detroit really encouraged him to work with and help more people since not everyone has the same opportunities in life, which led him to become a teacher. Many people don’t know that Mr. Stedman ran track and cross country in college, and is also a licensed contractor, so in the summer, he spends some time building as a small side job. One of his biggest inspirations in life is his parents, growing up they always taught him to do things for the right reasons and not for rewards, along with self-reflection to always better himself. Most of all, his biggest inspiration in life is his wife.

We truly value Mr. Stedman here at LHS, and wouldn’t know what to do without him!
