Mrs. Lohmeier, one of the art educators here at Lamphere High School, thinks of herself as “just a boring mom.” If you ask us, she is way more than a boring mom. Mrs. Lohmeier is a Lamphere High School graduate, and she graduated from Wayne State University with a bachelor’s in art and a major in art education. While she attended Lamphere High School, she was a cheerleader and she also played softball. She said, “I played volleyball my freshman year, but I wasn’t good at that.”
Mrs. Lohmeier is one of our visual/applied art teachers, and she has been teaching at Lamphere for 17 years. In total, she has taught for 22 years and has taught every single grade. Before teaching, she was a waitress and a bartender throughout college. As soon as she graduated, she got hired as a teacher.
At school, her “work besties” are Mrs. Martin and Ms. McClellan. When we asked what her favorite art class to teach was, she said that she loved all the subjects that she teaches, so she cannot pick a favorite. On the other hand, her favorite medium to use in her own free time is drawing and painting.
Outside of school, Mrs. Lohmeier has a family of 4. She has been married to her husband Jay for 19 years. They met each other during their middle school years at Page Middle School. They were friends all throughout high school and college, but did not date the entire time, and started out as friends at first. Then, she got married when she was 26 years old. Mrs. Lohmeier has 2 children, 1 son and 1 daughter. Her son, Chase, is a 17-year-old junior at Lake Orion High School. He plays soccer for his high school. Her daughter, Reese, is in 8th grade and is 14 years old. In her free time, Reese is a competitive dancer. She also has 1 cat and 1 dog.
Mrs. Lohmeier said that in her free time, she is either going to her kids’ sporting events, like dance competitions and soccer games, or having her kids’ friends over, or even going out with friends and/or family, but mostly attending her kids’ sporting events. She also said that she loves traveling. She loves to read, bake, watch true crime shows, camping and canoeing.
Mrs. Lohmeier is adored by all of the students and faculty and is truly cherished by each and every one of us! If you see her in the hallway, say hello!
