On October 1st 2025 The United States government was declared shut down. It’s not as bad as it sounds though. A government shutdown is where congress cant decide how much money to give to the exact branches of government so its shutdown until the government comes to a conclusion. This results in government jobs being down for the duration of the shutdown. People across the nation are affected because a government shutdown can result in the employment of government related jobs and the process of keeping government services clean and mannered in a neat order as usual being rendered as on pause. It will stall the pay for those working for the government. As of currently we have made it a whole month of the gov shutdown. Which is actually the longest shutdown we’ve had. Surpassing the 25 day shutdown and 35 day shutdown from 2018-2019 under Trump’s presidency. Marking it over a month. This shutdown has suspended the pay of 2 million federal workers and 900 thousand has been furloughed which means unpaid leave for specific duration. Not everyone is losing money though. People who have higher up essential government jobs will still be in place losing no pay. With that even people that are “losing money” are still going to work knowing their check given after the government reopens will contain all money deserved.
This current government shutdown occurred over federal spending, foreign aid recessions, and health insurance. The last time we were in a shutdown under Trump’s control was over the 5.7 billion dollar project for The U.S to Mexico border wall. Which they never agreed on. Trusted News source “Bloomberg” states “The government shutdown is costing the U.S around 15 Billion dollars each week.” So with that and the elections going on right now over the gerrymandering rule, Choosing district borders obtaining seats in house. With some already gaining democratic results. The result of a government shutdown should be a learning experience for all, it isn’t a good time for lots of people that so desperately need money for essential resources. So moving on as a country we need to think, what can we do better and how can we not allow this again.
