Veterans Day began as Armistice Day on November 11, 1919 to commemorate the end of World War I. The holiday’s name was changed to Veterans Day in 1954 to include veterans of all wars, a change advocated for by post-WWI veterans. Veterans Day honors all who have served in the U.S. military, recognizing their patriotism, service, and sacrifice. Unfortunately, we DO have school for this very special holiday.
