Mrs. Vickers, along with her leadership class, went to the Tree Runner Adventure Park on November 5th. They got to go on ziplines and obstacle courses throughout the park. They also learned many leadership skills while working with their group.
Tree Runner has countless options if you’re in the mood to climb, with their 138 climbing parks, along with many zip-lining stations.
Our Leadership class learned lots of new skills, including effective communication and perseverance in a difficult, high-stress situation. Being a leader means being able to work through tough situations and be able to still complete the task, and with all of the activities surrounding the group, they learned how important it is to pay attention to the safety of themselves along with others, and to read the signs around for rules. Active listening was a very important tool they had to use throughout the adventure, with the staff explaining the rules, and Mrs. Vickers being in charge of the buses when they were leaving.
Post-Field trip, they are going to have to assess how they thought they did and their perspective on how well they did when it comes to challenging themselves. Ambition and determination are very important skills as a leader, and this activity made them use these skills under pressure. Mrs. Vickers thinks the students did a great job with their perseverance and performance. She said the obstacles were very difficult to overcome, but the class pushed through and helped each other out. At the end of the day, the students expressed that they were very proud of themselves and glad they did something out of their comfort zone.
