In the last two years, the captains (Carsyn Young and Elliana Nielsen) have been an important part of the Lamphere dance program, but now Kaylee Stong steps up to the plate. She was surprised she got the role to lead the team for the 2025-2026 season! But she’s ready—she’s not only a good teammate but a good friend! The role will continue until the competitive season ends. Her goals as a leader are “to grow as a leader for her team, have better communication, and have a stricter approach coming into dance practices.” She will be the first-ever captain to be on the varsity dance team for only one year. Her role as a leader is to keep everything running smoothly, ensure everyone on the team feels comfortable, set reminders, and handle behind-the-scenes teamwork. Her inspiration for becoming a leader came when she was out last season due to a back injury; she had to sit out for the whole competitive season. But she still showed up to practice and competitions. She learned a lot from that experience—how to show up not just for herself, but for her teammates. Once she was cleared for this season, she carried the same mindset into her senior year. Good job, Kaylee! We can’t wait to see what the season brings to you and your awesome team. Good luck!
