Every year at the beginning of the school year, the Interact Club hosts an ice cream social. Ms. Clancy leads this club, and the event welcomes all students new to Lamphere. This can be for students that have come from a different school in state, kids from out of state that came to Lamphere this year, or exchange students. The students that have become a part of the Interact club helped plan this activity. When we asked Ms. Clancy how the turnout was this year she said,”I think it was great. We had about 50 new students.” We also asked how all of this became possible and she said, “My Interact kids so generously brought in all the supplies.” At this ice cream social the Interact members serve the new students ice cream during 6th hour. This event gives these students a chance to bond with all of the other students new to Lamphere. It also shows them that they are not alone because so many other people are also new to the school.

Beyond hosting social events, the Interact club focuses on meaningful projects. The Interact club is a community service group that conducts community service projects for the school community and the Madison Heights Community. They do things like a salsa fundraiser, they sell flowers around Valentines day and so much more. Ms. Clancy told us that they are still accepting new members for this club. This club helps you gain leadership skills and responsibility. If you would like to join they meet during Ram time in Ms. Clancy’s room. The date of their next meeting is Tuesday, October 7th. At this meeting they will be discussing their Thanksgiving Day basket project and the new llama shirts they are going to be making.
