As we get further into the school year, many classes are diving deep into their projects. At Lamphere High School, we have many talented artists, but were they always this talented? Where did they start? Let’s take a look.
Art Fundamentals 1 is the first class you have to take before you move onto our other art classes, such as Ceramics, Draw and Paint, etc. It is the pillar class to help you learn the basics so you can move on to bigger and better pieces. We sent people from our News Staff to interview two people from the Art Fundamentals 1 class, where people discover their talent and learn new ways to make their pieces great.
We wanted to see the inside scoop of how the class is going and how they feel about their still art pieces so far. We first talked to senior, David Brown Jr. He chose a shark as his assignment. We asked him, “What inspired you to choose this animal?” He replied,”I liked the way it was shaped and it tells a story. It shows that sharks come in many shapes and sizes but they still are deadly.” We also asked,”Are you proud of what you have done so far?” He replied,”No, I didn’t capture its full essence.”
When Colt Martinez was asked the same two questions he replied,”It didn’t look hard to draw” (in reference to his chosen penguin). When asked if he was proud of his work he replied,”Yes because I like the highlights.”
Over time these students will do various projects all with one goal in mind, getting in the Art Show. We will continue to stop by throughout the semester to see the works of the students and see how much progress they make!
