When you think about fall sports at Lamphere, you automatically think about their football program or team, but there are many other important fall clubs, and even fall sports at Lamphere: Girls Varsity Golf, Boys Varsity Soccer, Boys Varsity Tennis, and Girls Varsity/Junior Varsity Volleyball, COED Cross Country, Girls Varsity Cheerleading, Girls Varsity Dance, COED Marching Bands. These are some of the many different sports that are offered during the fall sports season at Lamphere High School. Each of these sports hardly gets enough attention for what they do. I want to show some love to each of these sports–especially the seniors and/or captains on these teams.
GIRLS VARSITY GOLF
The Girls Varsity Golf team doesn’t get nearly enough credit for how well they have done. There isn’t a big social media presence from them and the average LHS student would have no idea about this even being a sport offered here. I wanted to spotlight the seniors on this golf team, and even talked to their captain for a personal interview. The Senior girls on the team are: Aliana Martinez, Paige Oltersdorf, Ava Denmark, Katherine Kas-Peterus. I got a chance to speak to Aliana Martinez about this season, and how it’s going so far. “How do you think the team is doing so far?” “We’re doing alright, and still have time to improve.” Aliana told me. “Are you personally proud of yourself this season?” “Yes, but I could work on my putting and short game.” Aliana was very honest about herself. “What is the best memory of this year thus far?” “Bus rides are fun, and bring in good bonding.” Aliana was very easy to interview and I was glad I could get her for a statement. I hope nothing but the best and for a good year from the Golf team!

BOYS VARSITY SOCCER
The Boys Varsity Soccer team is a fairly big and important sport here at Lamphere, and they do have a strong following and a lot of social media presence compared to other sports on this list. There are a lot of strong seniors on this list who have done well on this team. The list of seniors on this team are: Ryan Allen, Joshua Cox, DaeVante Holmes, Connor Lewis, Kaiden McClure, Abdou Njie, Henry Whalen. Among all of these, I got a chance to talk to their Goalkeeper, Ryan Allen, to see how he feels about this year. “How do you feel about your season so far?” “Its been a struggle with a lot of big ups and downs, but the team is heading in a great direction.” Ryan was very honest in his faults. “How’s it feel for this to be your last year?” “It’s a happy sad, very excited for the season, but its hard to say goodbye to soccer.” Ryan showed how much he loves his sport. “What is your favorite memory of your career?” “Having a shutout in my first game ever.” Ryan seemed very fond of an amazing memory. Ryan was a very good interviewee, and I hope nothing but the best for their season.

BOYS VARSITY TENNIS
The Boys Varsity Tennis is a team that has little to no social media presence, as they are very rarely reported on. Last year they won the MAC, and now they hope to repeat. More than half of the team is made up of seniors; there are a lot of seniors on this team. Seniors on the roster includes: Cole Pawlaczyk, Charlie Belles, Cormic Whalen, Matthew Farmer, Jacob Lang, Florentino Vance and Ethan Bauer. There are a lot of different seniors, but Cole Pawlaczyk gave me some time to interview him about the season so far, and his past seasons. “What is your favorite memory from all of your time playing?” “Playing my last match with my former teammate Victor.” Cole cherished this memory. “Can this team win the MAC again?” “Yeah, I think we just the right amount of talent to win the mac.” Cole seemed excited at the thought. “Are you proud of your play this season?” “Yeah, for the most part, just working on serving better.” Cole reflected and told me. Cole was a truly good spirit, and took time out of his day to let me interview him on this. I hope nothing for the best for the tennis team this season.

GIRL VARSITY VOLLEYBALL
The Girls Varsity Volleyball team has been one of the better teams at Lamphere the last few years, and we hope to see the same success this season from them. They don’t have any seniors on this team, but I wanted to still interview them and so Sadie Hall set aside the time to let me interview her. “Is it weird having no seniors on this team this year?” “Yes, we are a very young team, which is new.” Sadie seemed happy but a bit nervous. “Are you excited for the season?” “Yeah, just having fun with my teammates.” Sadie wants to enjoy the season with all of her friends. “What are your expectations for yourself and the team this season” “Get better, and improving as a team.” Sadie has some hope and is proud of there improvement and hopes for more. Sadie Hall seems to really care about her sport, and I’m glad I could get her even with her busy schedule. I hope the best for the volleyball season this year.

COED CROSS COUNTRY
The COED Cross Country team had a couple people make states last year, and hope to repeat that this year. They have a short number of seniors on this team, the list is: Michael Aramouni, Henry Morales-Kramer, and McKenna Richard. I got the chance to interview Michael about the current season, and the last couple. “Are you excited for this upcoming season?” “I am, we already had our first meet, and I can’t wait to improve for the next one.” Michael told me excitedly. “What can you guys improve on from last year?” “Listen more to coach and follow directions.” Micheal let me know. “What is your favorite memory of your whole career” “Watching his brother and teammates running at state, as it was an amazing memory.” Thanks again to Michael Aramouni for taking the time to let me speak to him. I hope the best for the cross country team.

GIRLS VARSITY CHEERLEADING
The Girls Varsity Cheerleading team is a very successful and very popular team at Lamphere. A lot of people downplay the activities they do, but they do a lot of very hard and rigorous things. There is a stigma towards cheerleading, and I think the people that disagree the most are them themselves. This team has a bunch of seniors on it. This list includes: Sophie Najar, Ellie Rogensues, Shaniya Allen, Hailey Williams, Haylee VanLuven, Madison Hayter, Destiny Paulseen, Juliette Johns, Ella Ramirez, Kyleigh Cabral. I got a chance to talk to Sophie Najar. “How do you feel about last season?” “We did well, and improved well as a team.” Sophie was proud of the team. “What are you hoping to see from yourself this season?” “More confidence, more skills, and more teamwork.” Sophie told me seeming determined. “What is your favorite memory of your whole career?” ‘Getting MVP freshman year.” Sophie was proud and really fond of this moment. Thanks to Sophie for taking the time to speak with me. I hope for success with the team this year.

GIRLS VARSITY DANCE:
The Girls Varsity Dance is a sport that also doesn’t get enough recognition from social media. There are a lot of seniors on this team, and they seem to all work hard and do well. The seniors on this team are: Kaylee Stong, Lily Miller, Leticia Moreno, Amari Beverly, Ameila Jones. “Are you excited for this year?” “I’m excited for this year, and to be able to appreciate this year, and soak it all in the final year, and get to look at what I improved from my last couple years.” “What has been your favorite memory in dance so far?” “Winning 1st in states, and the good feeling we got from it.” Kaylee seemed very fond of this moment. “What improvement do you wanna see from yourself this year?” “More of being a leader and role model to your team and underclassmen.” Kaylee was a great and appreciative interviewee, and I was glad I got to talk to her. I hope the best for that year, and hope it keeps being good.

COED MARCHING BAND:
The Lamphere COED Marching Band has been very under represented and under appreciated for the last couple of years. For the amount of work they do, it is my hope that they get more representation. There is a long list of seniors in the marching band, and the list is: Jordan Aaron, Jackson Jankoski, Noah Newcome, Ella Novak, Amber Lynn-Tannehill, Lucas Tyreviska, Chloe Vaughn, Nina Deych, Samantha Shaffer. I got the chance to talk to a personal close friend of mine and senior drum major Jordan Aaron about the new year coming up. “What has been your favorite memory in the band” “Very first football game of the year, and hearing all of the cheers from his friends and family.” Jordan was very proud of his new role and showing it off to his family. “What do you wanna see from the band this year?” “Do better score wise, and improve the sound and teamwork of the band currently.” Jordan seemed determined to win. “How have you improved since you first came into the band?” “At first I wasn’t as confident in my leadership abilities, and now I know for a fact that I can take ownership of my role with pride and confidence.” Jordan showed how much he cared for this role. The LHS Senior Drum Major Jordan Aaron was an amazing person to interview, I was glad to get the time to talk with him. I do hope the best for the band this season.

I think it’s always good to show recognition to some of the other sports at Lamphere that might not get as much recognition or that might be less marketed on social media. Thanks again to all of the people who took some time for me to interview them. These players put their all out there to try and win for our school. If you’re ever free, why don’t you check some of these athletics out and catch a game or match. Keep your ears open for the announcements, and check your inbox for emails with dates or times. These places always need support, especially from classmates or their peers, and it shows Lamphere Rams Pride!
