The famous reality TV show Secret Lives of Mormon Wives got a spin-off earlier this year. Fans have been speculating for a couple of weeks about what it was going to be about. We finally got news this past week, along with the Dancing with the Stars announcement. Secret Lives of Mormon Wives (momtok) is based in Salt Lake, Utah, but this new spin takes place in Orange County, which is in California, and they have a whole new cast. Here are the new cast members:
Aspyn Ovard: She is a beauty and fashion influencer, and she has over 1 million followers on TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube. She has a clothing brand called Luca and Grae, which mixes style and comfort
Ashleigh Pease: she’s from Australia, and she is an entupeuner that founded the brand “get fit for kids” in 2021. She is also a new influencer in the Orange County area
Avery Woods: She has a podcast called “CHEERS! With Avery Woods “ on social media, and she has over 2 million TikTok followers, where she shares her life
Bobbi Altoff: She is famous for her podcast called “The Really Good Podcast,” which has unconventional interviews. In 2021, she started posting on TikTok about motherhood
Chandler Higgenson: She’s just getting started on posting on social media, and she has about 4,500 followers on Instagram
Jenn Afflcak: She is the only returning member from the original series
Madison Bontempo: She is known for her YouTube channel called the Fishfam witch features her 5 kids. She actually used to live in Utah before moving to California in 2024
McCall DaPron: She is the sister of Mayci Neely, who was on the original show
Salomé Andrea: She is a very big influencer in the Orange County area who has over 1.6 million followers on TikTok, where she showcases her life
There is a lot of controversy with this new spin-off, as many of the members are not actually Mormon but are prominent figures on social media. Examples of this are: Avery Woods, Aspyn Ovard, and Bobbi Altoff. Fans of the original show are calling this new show clickbait because of some of the members are not Mormon, although a lot of the original cast had actually left the Mormon church. Examples of this are: Tayler Frankie Paul, Layla Taylor, Miranda McWhorter.
This show has the potential to be really good and a success like the first time; however, I think with the whole is it clickbait drama that could be a negative impact on how people view the show, but also the success of this new show as a whole could be very successful.
