The 4th senior we got the pleasure to talk to is Troy Hill!
What have you done to pass most of your time at Lamphere? (sports, clubs, ect.)
I spend September through November doing the fall plays, and January through April doing the musicals. This fall I also took on the job of score keeping for the girls volleyball team for all of their home games, and this winter I did the same thing for Boys basketball, except I traveled to away games as well.
What was your favorite class you took at LHS and why?
Either Theatre 1 and 2 my freshman year(It was the first time the class had been ran at the highschool and it was predominantly seniors of the class of ‘23 and they all took me under their wing and taught me a lot. We also just had so much fun together in the class), or Unified Physical Education this year( Getting to see such amazing kids get the chance to participate in sports that they weren’t always given the opportunity to and have fun while doing it is such an amazing experience; They all are having such a fun time and are proving themselves to be some real contenders in some of these sports).
Which teacher/staff member has influenced you most and how?
Mrs. Peltier has definitely been one of my biggest influences in life period, she consistently demonstrates dedication and hard work to all of her students on a day-to-day basis. Beyond that she is an amazing person and truly has amazing relationships with all of her students and colleagues. Her amazing teaching style and infectious personality are two of the things that drive me to want to pursue a career in education!
What advice do you have for the underclassmen?
Get yourself as involved as possible and hold yourself accountable. If you have some big dream you want to accomplish post-high school, you have to actually put in the work while you’re still in high school if you actually want to meet that goal. Things are never handed to you, you have to work for them and earn them.
What advice would you go back and give your younger self?
Join honors classes earlier and push yourself to do things that are hard; Don’t be scared of the “what-ifs” of the world and just take what comes your way head-on.
What was the most memorable event that happened to you during the past few years?
Probably closing night of Annie, my sophomore year. It was such a special show and it was m first actual big lead role, and it meant even more to me that I got to do it with so many of my best friends right by my side. I also knew that my dad was watching me do what I love and it made it all the more sentimental for me!
How do you want to be remembered at school?
As somebody who was fun to be around and someone who enjoyed their time in high school!
What are your plans for after high school?
I plan to attend Central Michigan University and major in Secondary education, possibly with a minor in Theatre/Art education. I am also hoping to join the Men’s volleyball club team at CMU and get the chance to play volleyball!
