Going into the month of February, squishies and fidgets have been becoming more and more popular. They sell out as soon as they get restocked, people go store to store trying to find any kind of squishy. Most popularly, squishy dumplings.
Squishy dumplings are dumpling shaped squishes that are filled with a watery like gel. What made them appealing to the internet was the mystery aspect of the squishes. When getting one of the squishes, they come in mystery boxes so you don’t know which one you’ll get. There’s a bunch of different colors but also a glitter dumpling that is clear with chunks of glitter. Everyone has become obsessed with the dumplings specifically for the glitter one. People will go crazy over these squishes and buy boxes upon boxes and spend hundreds of dollars trying to find the glitter one.
Squishy dumplings were made for kids to collect and buy, but the majority of the buyers are young adults fighting for at least one of the boxes. Most of the time, the rush to get these squishes ends in kids getting toys stolen for them for the “trend”. This is a major problem because these young adults will post them taking cases and cases of these in front of kids and making them cry even. People online will laugh about these toys being taken from children right in front of them.
I personally don’t really understand the hype over these dumplings and excessively collecting them. Buying one is enough and there isn’t really a reason to buy these out at every 5 Below you go to, considering other people will want them as well. I think that it is crazy that people are literally fighting over squishes out of all things and starting drama. But I think it’s nice that fidget toys are coming back and new ones are coming out every week. But what do you think?
