Everyday at Lamphere you walk by the hundreds of students in the hallways and are left unaware of what they may do in their spare time, behind every face is passion, hobby talent many don’t get to see, to shine a light on these hidden skills we decided to look into some of the student lives at lamphere and see what they pursue outside of school, what we discovered reveals just how many unique talents are thriving in our school!
Joran Aaron:
Jordan Aaron is a Senior at LHS.
What is your hidden talent?
“Detroit Symphony Orchestra in their civic youth ensembles it is a youth based organization to get kids more exposed to higher levels of music
How did you get into it?
“In 6th grade I saw a piano in a church. After I tried to play it really bad I got lessons and got better.”
How long have you been doing it?
“6 years.”
What does it mean to you?
“I think music is my outlet. If I’m feeling any big emotions I normally turn to music either playing or listening to music, I mainly play.”

Allison Richards:
Allison Richards is a senior as LHS.
What is your hidden talent?
“My hidden talent is figure skating.”
How did you get into it?
“I used to do roller skating and I wanted it to be more soft and pretty and mainstream like no one does roller skating or roller derby and so I wanted to do figure skating.”
How long have you been doing it?
“I’ve been doing it for 6 years.”
What does it mean to you?
“Figure skating helps me go out of my comfort zone. I am very afraid of competitions, I have always been but on the right team with the right people it opens me up more. Like now I’m doing ice shows and theater shows.”

Mason Maczuga:
Mason Maczuga is a senior at LHS.
What is your hidden talent?
“I play rugby.”
How did you get into it?
“My dad has been playing for thirty years, so that kind of got me into it. It was a must.”
How long have you been doing it?
“Three years but I have been around it my whole life.”
What does it mean to you?
“Family, everything, sport and team bonding.”

Loretta Ritter:
Loretta Ritter is a Junior at LHS.
What is your hidden talent?
“Rock climbing”
How did you get into it?
“I always liked swinging on things and I tried it and it just clicked.”
How long have you been doing it?
“I’ve been doing it for 9 years.”
What does it mean to you?
“It’s like a safe space where I found a huge sense of community and a place where I learn work ethic and discipline.”

Kaylee Martin:
Kaylee Martin is a senior at LHS.
What is your hidden talent?
“Horseback riding.”
How did you get into it?
“It actually stemmed from a TV show in elementary school where I thought the main character was really cool for riding horses.”
How long have you been doing it?
“I started it back in 8th grade I took a break from it and then started it back up again last year.”
What does it mean to you?
“It means a lot to me because I love animals and I’ve always had a connection with them.”
