During our two-day school week, Lamphere cheer worked together to create ten Thanksgiving baskets for families in need. Cheerleaders gathered during Tuesday’s RAM Time in the cafeteria to assemble baskets.

Each basket contained traditional holiday foods, including turkey, corn, mashed potatoes, gravy, biscuits, desserts, rice, green beans, cream of mushroom soup, fried onions, juice boxes, cranberry sauce, macaroni and cheese, and stuffing. Lamphere cheer parents generously donated all of these ingredients for this community service project.
I asked head coach, April Ferns, why she wanted to do Thanksgiving baskets as a service project for cheer this year:
“The decision to collect donations was made with the intention of giving back to our community during the holiday season and teaching our athletes the importance of service, leadership, and compassion beyond the mat.
The donations collected were used exclusively to assemble Thanksgiving food baskets that

were distributed to 10 families in need through Lamphere High School. This initiative was fully centered on supporting local families and creating a meaningful impact during a time when many experience financial hardship.
Every donation went directly toward the purchase of food and essential holiday items, and the baskets were carefully assembled and delivered with the intention of spreading kindness and relief within our community.
Our cheer program strives to build not only strong athletes, but also responsible, empathetic young leaders.
Community outreach efforts like this are a reflection of that mission. We are extremely proud of our at

Athletes for stepping up to serve others. We are blessed to have an amazing support system through our community!!
Go Rams!”
During the stressful holiday season, the Lamphere cheer program always tries to lend a helping hand. For this Christmas season, the cheer program will also be contributing to helping families with their holiday wish lists.
