A lot of people’s lives are being impacted by the use of technology in many ways, and you might not even know it. Which isn’t really talked about enough for everyone to hear. We need to recognize that screentime needs to be reduced to a certain limit. There are a lot of people who take advantage of technology and use it negatively. In this case, it would cause students to use a certain type of AI to help them with their homework, because they think it’s a whole lot easier than actually putting in the effort to solve the problem. It also causes an impact on cyberbullying, along with reducing people’s social skills in the real world. Which, in this case, is why technology needs to be reduced to a minimum, so that people will be able to learn better, as well as people being kind to one another, and also people who will be put out of their comfort zone.
There will be a lot of people who might say, “Technology provides unprecedented access to resources that they can use, and that it improves personalized learning and expands mental health support.” Which might be in some cases like this, but this is reality, it really can’t improve anything. According to a survey from the Pew Research Center, it stated that 26% of students aged 13-17 use some type of AI that can do the work for them. This has doubled the amount from 2023, as it was 13%. Which might still be increasing till this day. This is just showing how people are not really trying at all with their work, and most likely will not be learning anything. If they will cheat all their way throughout their lives, they won’t get by, since further in the future, there will be people who will depend on us to save their lives, defend them in court cases, and teach them as students. It will impact our own learning, and this is a big deal. Even if it is difficult, it’s better to be able to learn or to get someone to help you if you happen to be stuck on anything than to rely on a source that might not even be fully accurate.
There are also a lot of people, mainly High School students, who use Social Media. Such as Instagram, Snapchat, TikTok, X ( Twitter), Facebook, etc. They all love to post their daily lives and mostly just want to express themselves as a person and be put out there, and just have fun. But some people can be cruel and bully them, which is also known as cyberbullying. Where individuals may make rude comments on their posts, or even send them DM’s, judging for how they present themselves. Several research studies show that cyberbullying is becoming more common at a younger age. Which is at 15%- 50%. What they don’t know is that it’s a very big deal, and they don’t know how bad it really impacts that person. Cyberbullying can lead to a person dealing with, having stress, social anxiety, depression, and even the chance of taking their own life, which is estimated to be 24%, It’s honestly a sad way to say it but it’s the world that we live in that causes people and younger audiences to even think of that, all due to cyberbullying that is all being caused by technology.
With technology, people feel better about making friends and having connections through social media like Discord or Roblox, with its voice chat feature. It’s not a bad thing to make connections with people through social media. It’s just how badly it can affect you, and you might not even know it. Meeting people in real life, rather than just through the digital world, can improve your social skills, help you be more open, and help you step out of your comfort zone. There have been several studies that attachment issues can be associated with people’s feelings and loneliness. Also, online communication that leads you to meet new people can also be dangerous because there’s a chance you might meet people who might not show their true identity, and this could possibly lead to kidnapping.
I want everyone to know that it can happen to anyone. Technology is advancing each time, and who knows what will happen by then, further into the future. Will this keep coming into a circle and repeat, or will there be some changes moving forward? I want us to be more vulnerable and ask for help with our assignments and not be afraid to ask for help in general. Being able to learn will help us to grow not only our minds but us as a person, and knowing how to do it will help us understand that concept. Be kind to everyone, even if you don’t know that person. Genuinely, everyone deserves to have a compliment and be expressed in a positive way. It doesn’t cost anything to be kind to someone, but a life will. We all want everyone to get the chance to meet someone who can change their life instead of getting attached online. You can have online communication, but there are certain limits to how far you should go.
