Starbucks came to an end with their absolutely delicious and divine fall menu, which was devastating to all the pumpkin lovers out there, but they followed it directly with their Christmas menu. Their new seasonal menu features a wide selection of beverages, including lattes, teas, and frappuccinos, as well as a variety of baked goods such as breads and cakepops.
Let’s take a look at what our Lampheres students’ tastes and preferences are on the selection of delightful drinks and baked goods.
Amari Beverly
She has tried the iced gingerbread chai and the sugar cookie latte. When asked what her opinion on the gingerbread chai was, she said, “The Gingerbread is pretty okay and bland, like I would give it a 6 out of 10.” I then asked Amari if the drink was as good as the iced pumpkin cream chai. She responded with, “No, the pumpkin chai was way better.” I began to ask Amari her opinion on the sugar cookie latte. She said, “I don’t like coffee, so the sugar cookie was not that good.” Then she said, “But I did get a chai with the sugar cookie cold foam, instead of getting the latte because it has no coffee, and it was still okay, but better.” As we wrapped up the conversation, Amari said, “With the peppermint mocha, I have to give it another try. The first time I had it, it was pretty good.”
Abby Ferris
Abby has tried all the Christmas drinks at Starbucks and was quite opinionated when asked about her thoughts on the new seasonal menu. We got into the conversation very quickly, and she started off saying, “For someone who likes coffee, the sugar cookie latte is so gross, it tastes awful, do not get it. Big fat no.” After hearing about her hatred for the sugar cookie latte. I asked her thoughts on the other beverages, and she replied, “I have tried the caramel brulee, it’s okay, but wouldn’t be a go-to.” She then said, “I agree with Amari on the iced gingerbread chai; the pumpkin one is way better.” After that, she said, “The peppermint mocha is a staple, I love it, but I hate the little curls on top. The chocolate curls make the drink so nasty.” Finally, the last thing she mentioned was, “I know it’s not out yet, but the chestnut praline latte is so good iced with cold foam, like when it comes out on December 2nd, you should go get it.”
Cassidy Kudla
Cassidy tried the iced gingerbread chai tea. She said, “It was amazing, I added two pumps of caramel, because I wanted a more caramel and fall taste to it.” She also mentioned, “ It was very sweet.”
Kaitlyn Peasgood
She had the sugar cookie latte with gingerbread cold foam. She joyfully said, “It was so good, like it was amazing, and I love it.” Kaitlyn also had their cute little bear head cakepop, she said, “I think it’s their best one, it’s better than their birthday cake cakepop, better than all of them.” She lastly said, “My opinion is a 10 out of 10 on the Christmas menu.”
Leticia Moreno
Leticia had the iced sugar cookie latte with sugar cookie cold foam with oatmilk, and she explained her opinion on the controversial drink and said, “I don’t think there is enough sugar cookie flavouring for me, it’s a little bit bland, but I do really like it, and with the sugar cookie cold foam, it makes it ten times better.”
Amelia Jones
Ameila has tried a variety of drinks on the Christmas menu, including the sugar cookie latte with oat milk, the gingerbread chai tea, the peppermint mocha, and finally the caramel brulee latte. When asked what her favourite drink she tried on the menu, she responded with, “My favourite is the gingerbread chai tea, I look forward to it every year. It’s one of my favourite Starbucks drinks that they have, so every Christmas I get so excited for it.” I then asked Amelia what her opinion is on the sugar cookie latte. She said, “ I am not a big fan of the sugar cookie latte. I think it kinda tastes like nothing, but I know a lot of people love it, so I don’t want to bash it too hard, but I am not the biggest fan of it.” I then asked her what her opinions are on the other two drinks she has tried. She said, “ The peppermint mocha is delicious, it’s a classic, and it’s always good. The caramel brulee latte used to be my favourite, but I’m not really into hot coffee, so it’s not my favourite anymore, because I don’t really love hot coffee.”
Finally, I tried two of the beverages on the Christmas menu myself. The drink I tried was the iced gingerbread chai tea. I personally really liked the drink. I feel as though the drink does taste very similar to the regular iced chai tea, but with more of a cinnamon hint to it, which I don’t mind at all, because I am a big chai lover. I will say, though, that I can totally agree with many people that the Iced Pumpkin Cream Chai Tea is way better and has a more unique and delicious taste. The second beverage I tried was the peppermint mocha frappuccino. The drink wasn’t bad at all; I thought it was also good. It definitely wouldn’t be a go-to, but it is great on occasion and to get you in the Christmas spirit. For someone who isn’t big on a minty flavour, I thought it was tasty. If you like mint chocolate chip ice cream, you will definitely like the peppermint mocha frappuccino. Overall, between the two, I prefer the iced gingerbread chai tea. I think the drink is more comforting, and I would be able to drink it more often, but as I said before, I am a chai lover, so the drink is more comforting to me, in my opinion. Both drinks are really good, and I would recommend getting and tryout.
In conclusion, I think all Starbucks Christmas drink options are delicious. I wouldn’t say one drink is more superior to the other. It just depends on your taste, but there is definitely at least one drink on the menu that you will fall in love with. Their Christmas menu will be out until the beginning of January, so I think you should stop by Starbucks when you can and try out their Christmas menu while you still have the chance.
