As some of you might know, Ms. Mouw took over the science department chair since Mrs. Stahl retired. She’s starting to take things and change them around, she’s also adding more new and fun classes for students have a better
understanding on what they are learning for the real world. With that being said she added a few new science classes to our wonderful school. We now have Anatomy and Physiology which is the understanding of the location and functions of our bodies it’s an every other year class, Forensics which you learn how to identify the body in a crime scene. Lastly Botany which is the study of plants. Although Forensics is the first semester and Botany is the second semester you can have fun with both new classes in the same year. Ms. Mouw also teaches four of our science classes which are, Biology, Forensic, Botany, and Anatomy and Physiology. Including Chemistry from last year that she’s taught a few times at Lamphere. Many kids like her as a teacher and as a person. Ms. Mouw is also and amazing mom to her Son Cameron, and her lovely furbabies. She also loves to stay fit by working out and running when she can. She has a big heart for all kinds of things including bugs we might not like. I took the time to ask Ms Mouw some questions about her new role and her personal life.
1. With this new title what is the most important thing you want to change?
“ I don’t know if change is the right word, I want to continue offering more science electives. I want to continue our department, making science fun, making science relatable and I think we’re moving in the right direction.”
2. What is one thing you hope students take away from your classes?
“I hope students take away a better appreciation of their own bodies, on how the world around them works and just kind of see the beauty and like everyday occurrences that are science related”`.
3. What made you become a teacher?
“I really love kids, and I really love science so being a teacher is the perfect combination. Working with kids and inspiring people and exposing people to science concepts that I really am passionate about.”
