November has now begun, the weather is getting colder, and almost all the leaves have fallen off the trees. The autumn breeze is in the air, and we start to settle in this new phase from the end of fall to the beginning of winter.
Our first snowfall has arrived, and people argue that it means Old Saint Nick is ready to come to town.
We see people the day after Halloween taking their decorations down and putting up their Christmas trees and wreaths. Already watching their Christmas movie marathon, snuggled up with a hot chocolate and a candy cane. Singing jingle bells and rocking around the Christmas tree, and truly embracing their Christmas spirit.
Others may say this kinda of act is insanity. How can you be jolly already, when we’ve just started the month of November and still have a long way to go until Christmas, and we have other holidays to celebrate first? For some people, Thanksgiving is their favorite holiday, and they get super offended when half the world completely skips it and forgets about it.
This has been a hot take for years. People are claiming that the Thanksgiving lovers are just being a grinch about it all, and that the Christmas lovers are just being unreasonable for preparing for Christmas this soon. Both sides have reasonable points, so let’s see what our Lamphere community has to say about this holiday battle.
Brianna Miller
Brianna is already walking around the school with her stylish Christmas Stanley. She mentioned that she has been putting out her Christmas Squishmallows on her bed, and all the Christmas decor has been put out in her home. When asked if she is a Christmas lover, she said, “Heck yeah!!”
Lilly Miller
Lily mentioned that she starts feeling festive the day after Thanksgiving and sets up her Christmas tree on December 1st. When asked if she was a Christmas lover or a Thanksgiving lover, she said, “ I like both holidays equally.” She also mentioned, “ If you start celebrating Christmas too early, by the time you get to December, you lose the festive feeling and it gets stretched out and not as exciting anymore.”
Justice Gossman
Justice’s family puts up her tree on November 1st, but she does not like that. She thinks you should start decorating for Christmas the day after Thanksgiving. When asked if she is more of a Christmas lover or a Thanksgiving lover, she said, “I am definitely more of a Christmas lover, but I think you shouldn’t start getting into the holiday spirit until after Thanksgiving.”
Amari Beverely
Amari mentioned that she has been listening to Christmas music and wearing some of her Christmas clothes to get into the holiday spirit. Her TikTok for you page has been filled with Christmas content, helping her feel more festive. When asked if she is a Christmas lover, she said, “Yes, I love Christmas, it’s the jolly time of the year.”
Aubree Canestrelli
When I asked Aubree how she felt about people starting to get in the Christmas spirit at the beginning of November, she replied, “I feel like it’s a little aggressive for November; Thanksgiving definitely comes first.” I asked her if she is more of a Christmas or Thanksgiving kind of person. She said, “I feel pretty mutual, but I love Thanksgiving and I cannot forget about it, and it’s not to be forgotten.”
