Thanksgiving is coming up fast, as halloween just passed thanksgiving is the perfect time to impress your family with yout cooking skills here are a few ideas of simple, yet delicious dishes you can contribute to your thanksgiving dinner this year!.
Garlic mashed potatoes
Ingredients
Peel and chop 2lb of potatoes (whichever kind you prefer)
3 cloves of minced garlic
½ cups of milk
¼ cups of butter
Salt and pepper
Instructions:
Boil potatoes in garlic salted water for about 15-20 min
Then drain them and mash them with butter and milk
Add salt and butter to taste
Optional: stir in a little sour cream and (or) shredded cheese to make it extra creamy and enjoy!!
Mac and cheese
Ingredients
1 lb. (16oz) elbow macaroni (or any short pasta of your liking!)
4tbsp of butter
4tbsp of flour
3 cups of milk (whole or 2%)
2 cups of shredded sharp cheddar cheese
Optional: 1 cup of shredded mozzarella cheese (for extra creaminess)
Salt and pepper to taste
Optional: ½ tsp of paprika (to add a little spice)
½ cups of breadcrumbs for topping
Instructions:
Cook macaroni in salted water until it’s just a little firm
Drain and set aside for later
Make the cheese sauce:
In a large pot, melt butter over medium heat
Stir in flour and whisk for about a minuet
Slowly add in milk while whisking to avoid lumps
Stir for about 3-5 minutes in total!
Add the cheese:
Lower heat and stir in the shredded cheddar and mozzarella cheese
Add the salt, pepper and paprika (if you so choose to)
Stir until smooth and creamy
Combine:
Add the cooked pasta to the cheese sauce and mix well
Optional bake for extra flavor:
Pour into a greased baking dish and sprinkle extra cheese and breadcrumbs on top
At 350 F (175 C) for 20 minutes or until golden and enjoy!!
Stuffing:
Ingredients:
1 loaf of bread (about 10 cups) – cut into 1-inch pieces (whatever bread you desire most!)
1 stick of butter (½ cup) of butter
1 onion (finely chopped)
3 celery stalks
2-3 minced garlic cloves
2 cups of chicken or vegetable broth
1–2 tsp poultry seasoning (or a mix of sage, thyme, and rosemary)
Salt and pepper to taste
1-2 eggs lightly beaten (helps hold it together better)
Instructions:
Preheat oven:
Set oven to 350 F (175 C) and grease a baking dish
Toast the bread
Spread bread cubes on a baking sheet and bake for 10–15 minutes until slightly crisp.
(Skip if using dried bread.)
In a large pan melt butter over medium heat
Add the onion, celery and garlic and cook for about 5 minutes (or until soft)
Stir in poultry seasoning, salt, and pepper
Mix everything together:
In a big bowl combine toasted bread cubes, cooked veggies, and beaten eggs
Gradually pour the broth in stirring until bread is moist but not soggy (you might not need all the broth)
Spread mix over greased baking dish
Cover with foil for about 20-25 minutes
Remove the foil and bake for about 10-15 minutes or until golden brown on top and enjoy!
