Have you ever seen the color guard perform at the halftime show at the football games and think you would maybe like to do that well now’s your chance! This upcoming winter starting on November 17th, there are clinics being hosted at the middle school at 6:00 pm for this year’s season.
The Lamphere Winterguard is always looking for new members. No experience is needed to join you just have to show up. If you need some more motivation to try out, I spoke to the most experienced members as to why you should join this season.
Chloe Vaughn: “Winterguard is an activity I enjoy because I get to meet new people and coach people who are younger than me. I try to evoke the same inspiration and passion that I have for guard to them and treating them like their my children and performing just makes it worth it, with the hours of work you put into it and you get back and you place high and meet new people at competitions, it’s very fun.”
Chloe’s favorite part and why people should join: she said “My favorite part is the competition and meeting new people from other schools and to cheer others on and you just automatically make connection with other groups because they understand how much work goes into the activity, and it’s just so fun and you learn new things and have fun bus rides! And it’s a really interesting learning experience because there’s nothing else quite like it”
Logan Dyja: I asked what winter guard is and this was his response, “Winterguard is like the indoor version of colorguard, with no wind it’s a completely different experience than fall guard”. I then asked him why people should join and what gets people motivated and he said because it’s fun and you get to meet a lot of new and nice people and everyone works together and has good team work and builds bonds with your teammates.
Logan’s favorite part about winter guard is the tarp that fills up most of the main gym at page and we get to unfold and refold it every rehearsal and it’s when most of the teamwork actually happens , and this year we are getting a brand new tarp as well!
So get ready this year for the winterguard season just come in and give it a try and see what new potential you could unlock this season, you get the chance to spin flags sabres and rifles and learn fantastic dances, if this seems something your interested in come to page middle school on () at () and give it a try the lamphere winterguard welcomes you with open arms!
