High schools having clubs isn’t a foreign concept at all. Instead, it’s actually a necessity so students can unite over common interests and goals. That’s why PACT is returning for the 25/26 school year. PACT stands for “Power to Achieve and Conquer Together”, and the club is continuously relevant as it aims to focus on academic and personal encouragement for students. However, for the past two, it’s been inactive due to leadership changes and conflicting schedules. It’s unfortunate that such an important club wasn’t active for a while, but it will be returning in the next few months. Take a look at what the reformers for PACT have to say about the progressing revamp.
DISCLAIMER: Ms. Martinez’s interview is slightly different due to me (Kaitlyn Carson) having a one-on-one conversation with her instead of simply asking one question like I did with Jordan and Rodney.
From Jordan Aaron, senior: “Since freshman year, I have believed that PACT was one of the most relevant and integral clubs in our school. Being able to be a part of the team bringing it back is truly a dream come true. PACT was about bringing people together to appreciate our differences, Whether it’s culture, race, ethnicity, or religion. Within the next few months, PACT will hopefully come back to what it used to be. A community of students who are willing to help each other better and strive, both academically and outside of school.”
From Rodney Cushingberry, junior: “PACT will bring together a community of people from different backgrounds. We’ll impact students positively and it’ll bring in a lot of people together.”
From Kaitlyn Carson, senior: “Changing PACT up after a year and a half of inactivity is very important since it’s key to have a place for all to interact, especially since there’s more non-white students than ever. Plus, having a club that promotes the idea of equity and diversity while society is more divided than ever is a need.”
From Mrs. Julie Martinez, Teacher Sponsor for PACT: “Well, that’s going to be the key to us getting things going this year and doing all of the things we’ve talked about and had planned. I feel like having quality student leadership…that’s going to be the key. I’m very excited about the leaders who have stepped forward [regarding PACT].”
