In this week’s issue of LHS Athlete of the Week, we chose Paige Oltersdorf, a senior member of the Lamphere Girl’s Varsity Golf team. We interviewed Paige on some of her experiences on the team, and expectations for her senior year. We asked her how it felt to be chosen as our first Athlete of the Week, and she admitted that “it was an honor” to be selected. As a veteran member of the team, we asked her about her hopes for this season, as a team as well as personal goals for her final season. Paige replied, “I just want to have fun and improve my game.” She also mentioned that the team is striving “To be the best version of themselves at all times.” We wanted her opinion on their chances of winning the MAC this season. She answered, “No. We are very young and inexperienced.” She explained her reasoning was because their team has a majority of first-year golfers, which would make it very difficult to succeed in their league. Although they might have some struggles in the league this year, there are some positives. When asked how their recent matches have gone, Paige commented that “They went well, and they have shown improvement”. On top of being a member of the golf team, she is also a member of the Varsity Softball team. We asked her about her hopes for this upcoming season, and she answered, “I’m just looking forward to having fun and enjoying my last season.”
