On Monday, Taylor Swift announced a new documentary titled “End of an Era,” a six-episode series scheduled for release on Disney+ on December 12th. This documentary explores the making of the Eras Tour, showcasing the production and behind-the-scenes elements of this iconic tour. Taylor Swift has previously produced several documentaries, including those on her stadium tours. The Reputation Stadium Tour, once available on Netflix, and the Eras Stadium Tour, currently on Disney+, were also shown in theaters upon release. Her 1989 Stadium Tour is no longer on Apple Music but is still accessible on YouTube.
Swift has two other documentaries about her albums. “Miss Americana” delves into the creation of her “Lover” album, providing insights into her songwriting process. Another documentary focuses on her album “Folklore,” available on Disney+, where she discusses the significance and meaning of each song.
A film titled “A Life of a Showgirl” was released in theaters for a weekend as a celebration with fans, although it is not an official documentary. There have been mixed reactions to her new album, with some criticism, but seeing it alongside her documentaries has deepened my appreciation for the songs and the album.
In the music video “The Fate of Ophelia,” which references Shakespeare’s Ophelia, Taylor Swift humorously reimagines the story, avoiding Ophelia’s tragic fate. Featuring everyone from the Eras Tour, this music video connects to the documentary, marking a fitting touch as it accompanies her first album release since the Eras Tour ended nearly a year ago.
