The Varsity Soccer team played Clawson on October 1st. The Rams defeated the Trojans 3-0. This game was senior night where they honored not only their 7 seniors buy also their 1 honorary senior. The seniors on this team play a key role in every game.
We talked to senior Henry Whalen and asked him what it was like playing his last season game at home. He said, “Weird because it feels like my season just started because I just got back from an injury.” Henry came back the game before from a hip injury he suffered in the beginning of the season. We also asked what his favorite memory throughout his high school soccer career was, and he said, “2-way buses my freshman year because I liked the group of people.” Good luck to Henry as he finishes out his season!

The next senior that we talked to was Kaiden McClure. We asked him what the biggest challenge he had overcome during his time on the team. He told us, “ Having to control myself from getting any more red cards because if I get 1 more I can’t play districts.” When we asked what the most important lesson that he has learned through soccer he said, “I’ve learned that if you try hard enough you can achieve what you want.”
The last person that we talked to was Aleksandr (Sasha) Chirkov. He is not a senior but he was still honored on senior night because it would be his last season home game in America. Sasha is a foreign exchange student from Russia and will only be staying 1 year. We asked him what it was like experiencing senior night as an honorary senior and he said, “I don’t feel like a senior myself but it was a good experience.” We then asked how he thought the team was this year. He said that, “ They are guys who support eachother and respect eachother and everyone wants to win every game.”
You can catch the boys first round district game on Thursday, October 9th, at 4:30 pm.
